What: Pretty big cafe/restaurant.
Prices: Average for Bremen, cheap if you’re used to Dublin prices. Aubergine bake €8.30, main course salads around €8, baguettes around €6.50, pizzas around €7.50.
Vegetarian menu: Veggie bake (auflauf) €8.40, spaghetti gorgonzola €6.30, veggie gnocci €7.30, pizza with aubergine and courgette €8.20, pizza margarita €6.30, veggie baguette with lots of filling for around €6.30, big salad plates with cheese for around €7 (as a main course), nachos with guacamole €3.90, veggie soup €3.90 and much more.
Drinks: Beers, wines, teas, juices, etc.
Service: Efficient. The kitchen is a little slow.
Comfortable? The tables by the window afford a good view of the main drag. Otherwise, it can be pretty noisy and cramped.
Was the food good? It’s adequate. You can certainly do better for the same price, or less, in any of the nearby restaurants. The avocado and fresh cheese mixture was disappointing — I could hardly taste avocado. The tea was nicely presented, though.
My advice to the chef: The options for vegetarians are extensive, which is great. Given the amount of time it took for my simple snack to appear I was expecting something tastier than what I got.
My advice to the manager: Encourage the folks in the kitchen to work faster.
Overall: It’s nice to sit at a table in the window and watch the world go by, otherwise, try elsewhere in this neighbourhood.
